Written as a memorial to Brahms? mother, the German Requiem is a work of great beauty which transcends religion and instead offers in its profound humanism, comfort and consolation to the grieving. The concert opens with a new piano concerto by Dunedin-based composer Anthony Ritchie which is bursting with rhythmic vitality and a sense of adventure.
